Q: What is the purpose of the court hearing?

A: The purpose of the court hearing is for Santa Teresa to become a City.
Please review the https://pgostnm.org/news-updates/State Of New Mexico Dona Ana County Third Judicial District Court Provisional Government Of Santa Teresa V.  Dona Ana County Board Of County Commissioners

Q: What do you hope is the result of this hearing?

A: If the hearing is in our favor, it will give Dona Ana County more time to submit revised documentation for Santa Teresa to become a City.

Q: Are the streets of Santa Teresa going to be repaired?

A: The streets of Santa Teresa, The Main artery roads, can only be fixed if and when Santa Teresa can become a city; Greg Collins has no money to invest over six million dollars in fixing the streets. Next, Sunland Park can not fix the streets. There are no funds available to do so. The annual budget for the whole city just to run the city is less than six million dollars.  I invite you Santa Teresa Residents to take a trip through some of the city’s streets so you all can see that they can not fix their own right now. Sunland Park has been a city under the umbrella of Colonia since the city was formed 30 some odd years back. No Money, no future for the city.

Q: Who owns the streets of Santa Teresa?

A: The streets in Santa Teresa are owned by each and every homeowner that owns their home in Santa Teresa. Santa Teresa Residents.

Q: What is the current situation with the City of Sunland Park Annexation of Santa Teresa?

A: The annexation Case was filed in 2015 is still under Litigation. The Court of Appeals of New Mexico is still deciding the case, therefore under Prior Jurisdiction, No municipality or government can annex any land at all. That is the law.

Q: Is Sunland Park going to take over Santa Teresa, and if so, what will happen to Santa Teresa?

A: No, Sunland Park can not take care of Santa Teresa. There are no funds for that at all; if rooftop taxes were to be collected, Sunland Park would not use them to fix or take care of Santa Teresa because Santa Teresita and other annexation completed by Sunland Park went through the same thing can they take care of us. No, they have not been taken care of; example: Santa Teresita has no fire hydrants and or concrete roads (when Sunland park annexed that area over 10 or 20 years back, they promised to give them those two main needs, and to date, nothing has been done at all. Also, the Valencies Subdivisions off Artcraft road were promised maintenance of streets, and much more to date, not a thing has been completed at all.

Q: Will Santa Teresa become its City?

A: Santa Teresa has been winning at the Appeals Court and at the Supreme Court for the right to become a city, yet it seems that the county lawyer, along with other county employees and more associates, is or have planned to stop the city of Santa Teresa. We need voices, and we need residents to stand up and make their voices heard. We want and have the right to become a city. Residents must call Dona Ana County Commissioners and express their wishes; remember, we vote them in.

Q: Is our water safe in Santa Teresa?

A: The drinking and overall running water are not safe at all. That is totally another story, but to answer the question, is it safe? NO, IT IS NOT.
